Now that all of the large scale parts of the machine have been planned out, I’ll move to the firing mechanism. Since it’s a more complicated part of the Scorpio, I’m going to start putting together the full scale model and then integrating it in the process.
This is the newer version of the Scorpio, with different measurements. It’s going to be slightly wider as well as thinner back to front. The four holes are where the string goes, which will be twisted around to hold the arms of the machine. The two spiked pieces are for the loading mechanism, so when it is cranked back, a hook will grab each side and prevent the ballista from unintentionally firing.
